Ingredients
For Decoration:
How to Prepare
-
Prepare the Dough:
- Mix the flour, baking soda, ginger, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, and salt in a medium-sized bowl with a whisk.
- Butter and sugar should be mixed together in a big bowl until they are light and fluffy. Mix the sugar, egg, and vanilla extract in until everything is well mixed.
Mix the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients one at a time until a soft dough forms.
-
Chill the Dough:
Divide the dough into two discs, wrap them in plastic wrap, and chill in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour.
-
Roll and Cut:
- Warm the oven up to 350°F (175°C) and put parchment paper on baking sheets.
- Spread the dough out on a floured surface until it's about 1/4 inch thick. Cut the cookies into holiday forms like trees, stars, and gingerbread people.
-
Bake the Cookies:
- Cut out the shapes and place them on the baking pans that have been prepared, making sure to leave a tiny space between each cookie.
- Bake for eight to ten minutes, or until the edges develop a slight firmness. The cookies should be allowed to cool for five minutes on the baking sheet before being moved to a wire rack to finish cooling.
-
Decorate the Cookies:
Once completely cooled, use royal icing to decorate the cookies as desired. Add edible pearls or sprinkles for extra festivity.
